Plans for the
second annual Mount Washington Valley Jam (or “ValleyJam”
for short) have been announced! This year's music
benefit is scheduled for Saturday September 18 at the Hill's
Florist & Nursery located in the Intervale section of New
Hampshire’s beautiful Mount Washington Valley.
Last year
featured performances by Les Wheeler & the JV All-stars
(featuring Assembly of Dust members Andy Herrick, John
Leccese, Adam Terrell and Nate Wilson), The Boston Horns,
Felix Rentschler (Shockra, Heavy Metal Horns & Another
Planet) & Friends, (Savoy) Truffle and local boys Five Day
40. There were acoustic performances between the main sets
by Erinn Brown and Sean Murphy. The night ended with a
collaborative “ValleyJam” open jam session.
Proceeds
from the event will be donated to the
Friends of
Tuckerman Ravine (FOTR), a nonprofit
organization working with the U.S. Forest Service to help
protect Tuckerman Ravine and the Cutler River Drainage Area in
New Hampshire’s White Mountains.
This year will
bring back the Boston Horns with special guest Melvin Sparks
as well as Felix "The Funky Cat" Rentschler. The day will
start with an amazing group of young musicians led by Eric
Reardon. Eric is a 14 year old guitar player.
You can check out his 11 year old drummer on David Lettermen
airing September 9! We are planning on 40 minute set
breaks with performances by local MWV bands on the side
stage. Plus more time is being given to the "ValleyJam".
The goal of the
event is meant to promote music in MWV and spread the word
about FOTR.
